The F/A-18 AN/APG-79 radar system, an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA), enables the F/A-18 Super Hornet to control a variety of air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, as well as other precision-guided munitions. Specifically, it can guide AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air missiles, Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) and Laser JDAM, conventional and laser-guided bombs, AGM-154 Joint Stand-Off Weapon (JSOW), and the AGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missile.
