This was Greg Lipmann's single Chinese quant at Deutsche Bank, whose name is Eugene Xu and he was behind Lipmann's idea of shorting the subprime mortgage bonds.

According to the book...

A real Chinese guy - not even Chinese American - who apparently spoke no English, just numbers. China had this national math competition, Lipmann told people, in which Eugene Xu had finished second. In All of China. Eugene Xu was responsible for every piece of hard data in Lipmann's presentation. Once Eugene was introduced into the equation, no one bothered Lipmann about his math or his data. As Lipmann put it, "how can a guy who can't speak English lie?"

Of course Lipmann made billions for the people who belived him and Eugene made millions for not speaking English!
