Xiamen PX, 2009 edition

disgraceful Xiamen PX =>silent & masked Dalian PX?

for those who are not familiar with the background, here is a reminder of what happened to the high profile Xiamen PX project -

Either because Dalian's million strong residents population are too busy, or Dalian's municipal leaders super successful in keeping things very quiet, the former Xiamen PX, now Dalian PX, 20 km from Dalian downtown, is now officially steaming out tons and tons of key chemical product - xylene.

Now you will hear from some "experts", even 'imported' ones, that xylene is safe, blabla. Believe me, if you don't want leukemia, you shall check it out. See this report from Italy,

Here is my personal take on this -
Project like this and others, should never be allowed in a populous country, especially in major metropolitan such as Dalian - we are talking about major environmental impact, potentially sharp arise in blood-born cancer incidences, and catastrophic effect on millions of people were there an accidental spill or explosion to take place;
Even if the country is desperate about something called GDP and can't live without such nasty project, they should at least move it to less populated area with less danger to millions of chinese citizens. I would suggest something like border area with north korea (after all, Kim J II is already playing cancer causing uranium and plutonium near china border), or afghanistan, where people's priority might be a little different from that of Dalian.
I thought Chinese bureaucrats have started to respect human lives.
