All these question marks have never been raised before...

you two got unemployed. So I have to question how solid the foundation of your so-called "love" or "relationship". From what you have described, you two might still end up separation even after married when other adversities tap into your life.

When couples face adversity, they either 患难与共 or 大难临头各自飞. Most Chinese in OLD time will 患难与共 but young generation/most westerners will 大难临头各自飞.

Still, I think you have better chance finding/raising a CHINESE family here than in China. It is sad and true that the candidate pool is actually much smaller there to fit your HIGH profile.
