To be fair, he was looking for a job in Europe
and went to dozens if not a hundred interviews. But mkt condition in Europe already worsened in last Oct. and many firms would talk to you and slow in making hiring decisions. He was very close of getting an offer from Socgen (a major French bank), then after 2 days they blew up in the $7bn loss caused by one trader and the whole bank went on a hiring freeze.
He was in London for 7 mos. and then his 1 yr time was up (once the 6yr life-time H1B was up, the individual had to leave US before he/she is eligible for another H1B), so he returned to New York, which was when we started dating. In the first a few months he was back, there was some immigration issues he needed to deal w. and he was not able to look for a job in the US until recently.
My parents are not happy about the fact that he is not willing to be flexible in the location/geographic region issue. I only wish he is more Chinese.
