Lax 123, I agree with your in most part, although
a lot of people here took this as an opportunity to identify themselves because they didn't feel they were part of the country that adopted them, that provided them & their kids with opportunities that were not available in China. These demonstrations were to show other people Chinese' identity, to let other people hear Chinese' voice. Also, a lot of young people don't have painful memory of the past (6.4 or cultural revolution), they just want to convince other people that they are part of a powerful country. Unfortunately, many of those people who went on the streets have a different opinion on what China/Chinese needs the most. They bought the idea that Olympics would gain the world's respect for China/Chinese. I guess we will find out -- how long it will take after Olympics for a Chinese to be able to travel around the world without all the visa troubles. I hope it happens in the next 50 years.
