Take a look at our closest neighbor- Japs (sorry to express my hatred to this people).

Have Japs invented anything? NONE. But they make everything they copied much better ( car, TV, camera, laptop...etc.) They do not invent but it doesn't stop Japan to become one of the richest countries.

The key point here is: No matter you invent something or make something the best, you need FUNDING, TIME and the most important- COMMITMENT. Developing a preion drug will take 7-10 years, developing a killer app will take 3-5 year, setting up a GMP manufactory will take 1-2 years... China has the money now but if you bring such proposals to any VC or government, you will be axed immediately.

Sadly, our culture (current trend, precisely) from top to every industry only rewards short-term return. To reverse this trend is out of our hands...
