Do not try beating IRS

7500 is the tax credit. Credit is credit, not a check. You have to own IRS no less than 7500 to get the full 7500. If you are paying 7499 tax then you are not paying a penny but you don't get any dollar back eather. The 7500 is for the tax year you put your EV into service.
