SUNOL — Lanes of Highway 84 were on one-way traffic control after a man died in a collision between two vehicles Wednesday morning, the California HIghway Patrol said.

Just after 8 a.m., officers responded to reports of a crash on the highway at Little Valley Road in unincorporated Alameda County, CHP Officer Derek Reed said.

A white sport-utility vehicle was driving in westbound lanes about a mile east of Interstate 680 when a maroon Infiniti sedan in eastbound lanes drifted onto the right shoulder, hit gravel and lost control, Reed said.

The Infiniti over-corrected toward westbound lanes and T-boned the SUV. The Infiniti’s driver, a 27-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, Reed said.

The SUV’s driver received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The CHP issued a Sig-alert at 8:37 a.m., closing all lanes, but updated the alert to allow one-way traffic control at 8:46 a.m., and officers anticipate all lanes reopening by 11 a.m..

Check back for updates.
