Regarding the CVT fluid change, I have always changed the fluid at 60K mile intervals; no issues over the 138K miles so far.

I often quiz Ford techs and about potential weaknesses and future maintenance issues for my 05 Five Hundred. The responses are always something like " ... they are fairly bullet proof - except for abused CVTs." One fellow I know well has shared a few horror stories of CVT failures. The common denominator is lack of the 60K mile service/fluid change. Replacement CVT at a Ford dealership is roughly $4,800. I hear they can not be rebuilt, but I doubt that. Still, why temp fate with scrimping on fluid changes?
