As I said myself, it sounds crazy but it is true. Looking at it from a scientific angle I must be wrong. More weight means more to move and therefore more fuel consumption. As most of the fuel is used in acceleration and I accelerate smartly the weight is less important. The car hugging the road and having less slippage may be what helps. It may not help in all cars, but in some it does.
