It is the ECM, not the transmission or ATF

What your described is a classic case of the ECM for 01-03 rav4. Of course Toyota dealer won''t admit it. There is a class action filed I believe.

Find a handy friend and take off the ECM and find a vendor on eBay for rebuild. It costs less than $200. There is nothing wrong with the transmission andATF.
