Toyota Sienna minivan malfunction light problem

The full service oil station person tighted the gas cap loosely and malfunction warning light came on. Found out and tighted the cap, however, after a couple of days driving, the light is still on.  Per the manual, it should come off after several trips. Does anyone have the same experience? Shall I go to the dealer or have autozone read the error code?
