If you go to BMW dealer, I guess it will cost around $1000 - $1500 (even more) at least to replace rear bumper.

You can call dealer first to get some idea, then decide if you should claim insurance or not. BTW the price you get from dealer could be different from the final price if you claim insurance depending on how your insurance company negotiate with the bodyshop. I suggest you do this as soon as you can.
