It's doable, but you'll do many things:

1) Space - the diesel engine has to be able to fit in
2) Transmission gear ratios
3) Plumbing (this is the most headache thing)
4) Engine mounts
5) Electronic control (diesel's ECM is not the same as that of gas')
6) Vacuum

I have seen reports that somebody installed a diesel engine to a 420SEL. He said it's doable but a lot of work.
