All three settings are acceptable as some car manufacturers recommended one or another:

Taken 42psi and a front drive car as an example:

(1) Front 42/rear 42
(2) Front 42/rear 41
(3) Front 42/rear 40

For cars with rear wheel drive, it's opposite.
