VW cars may be designed that way

My 06 Jetta TDI is similar - when I release my foot from fuel pedal, the RPM isn't droping quickly, rather it keeps RPM proportionately lower; when I apply braking, RPM will drop quickly. It's always like engine engaging with transmission/wheels.

While MB doesn't - in above scenario, the RPM will drop quickly but car keeps going under momentum...
