fee for checking engine light?

My toyota engine light was on last night and early this morning.Then it turned off for no reason. I let toyota dealer to check the engine light this morning and they charged me $30 for labor. They just checking and found nothing wrong. No repair work at all. My hu*****and said they shouldn't charge for this service. What's your thought? Should I ask money back? Thanks.
