Should I add teenage driver to my auto police?

Should I add teenage driver to my auto police? My 15 years old just got his permit. I signed a paper said that I am response for any loses to DMV. Should I call my auto insurance to add him to the police? Or it will be automatically covered if something happens.
He is excited but I am worried.
