My hu*****and and I had 4 accidents in past 5 years, below are experiences learned/paid:

About insurance premium
--most insurance will forgive (means no increase of premium) the 1st accident even it's your responsibility.

Deductable
-- if your damage repair cost is lower than your deducatble (usually either $500 or $1000, depends on your policy), better not report to insurance company. BUT, if another side report to his/her insurance company, you have to report to yours as well, no choice

Suggestion
-- do an free estimation at car service place first, know the repair amount first, if it's minor (say lower than $500 repair cost), call the other party, talk about both not report to insurance--it's mutual benefits
