Spyder apparently has more drag than coupe, and drivetrain may not be optimized for it for economic reason (share the same drivetrain). It may not operate at Pmax at top speed. If you are really meticulous about it, driver putting on more clothes, change of wind speed and direction, different pavement, amount of gas in the tank, tire wear, temperature and so forth can all put you out of Pmax. Being precise is good sometimes, but not always. It can sometimes hinder your intuition, prevent you from seeing things that really matter through all the nuances.

I don't quite agree on your causality comment. I think power is the cause that torque goes down at high rpm, instead of designer purposely want it that way. Who doesn't want a flat torque to red line? What limits power? Rate of fuel consumption, energy conversion efficiency in pistons, exhaust efficiency, air intake...
