Looks like you and I agree on all technical results then.

The reason I wanted to make the distinction is that using the hp curve misleads people (like ifidonlike above who insists to multiply rpm to torque to get force) to over-exaggerate the effects of high-rpm torque. I wanted to show that high-rpm torque's effect is in flexible gearing only, the rpm doesn't get multiplied into extra force.

When engineers tune engines / drive-train, I'm sure they do all sorts of simulations, integrating all parts of the torque curve together. That will naturally lead to fat torque curves, and as a consequence, high peak hp numbers, which satisfies marketing people.
