My point is more radical than 84103's. I contend that the power curve does not come into play at all when you compute the time it takes to accelerate from any one speed to another. The only things that matter are the torque curve and gear ratios. If you read my post titled "On power and torque II" above, you'll find a mathematical proof of this, and I welcome you to check my reasoning there.

If my proof holds, power is a superfluous concept (for determining acceleration, not top speed), therefore I propose to cut it out from the theory by using Ockam's razor.
