Bouncing off the rev limiter

is actually fun. The sound is weird, and you lose all power, but it doesn't hurt the engine. I've done it several times :)

The real scary thing would be if you wanted to downshift from 5th into 4th gear and put it into 2nd by mistake. That could mean a blown engine.
