Check Chinese paper or Sydney Morning Herald for room to let. There are plenty available. After a few months she can find a better suitable place.
Bondi, Chatswood are expensive, Hurstville/Ashfield area are more affordable. It is all depends on your situation. I don't think there are too much problems in Chinese living area as long as it is not in Middle East people area.
Once got a job and settle down, all should be fine.
