一九七二年《中华人民共和国政府和日本国政府联合声明》中，日本政府向中国周恩来政府作出的国家保证： “日本国政府充分理解和尊重中国政府的这一立场（台湾是中华人民共和国领土不可分割的一部分），并坚持遵循波茨坦公告第八条的立场。”

Potsdam Proclamation is a joint declaration, so japan wants? Liuqiuor Diaoyu Island , no problem, but needs to be authorized by joint agreement of 4 countries (china,USA,russia,GB)(中美俄英).

文獻對這些島嶼都有記載。­在日本­１７８３年和１７８５年出版的標有琉球王國

疆界的地圖上­，釣魚台­列島都被標明為中國的領土.1894中日甲午戰爭爆發­前，

日本從­沒有對中國擁有釣魚台列島的主權提出異議。
