Life in Austrialia vs US, please comment

The other day i met a friend from Austrialia and talking about Austrialia.
I got very good impression about this country and almost start considering moving there, but before taking further step, i want to get more knowledge about it.

I have been here in the US for 16 years, worked as an IT pro for 12 years and now start considering a place for retirement.

Here is what i want to know
1. How much a Sr developer can get in the major cities like Sydney and Melbourne? My friend told me that the salary in Austrialia is 1.5 times higher than US (a Sr developer here in the US can get about 80K to 110K US dollars a year), is this true?
2. What is the tax rate in Austrialia, say if your gross income is 200K, how much you have to pay the government?
3. What is the average housing price in major cities like Sydney and Melbourne, how much per sq foot or sq meter for new or 10 years new house?
4. How is the lifestyle for working professional? is it stressful? how many holidays and vacation days for average IT engineers?
