Is Oz's life quality/standard really better than NZ

I am an NZ citizen and plan to move to Oz. However, I have heard people talking about OZ's expenses are higher than OZ. It is true that wages are higher in OZ. But housing and some other expenses are much higher than NZ as well. So some people haven't feel OZ's life quality/standard is really higher than NZ.

Just want to ask your advice and comments, for who have lived both OZ and NZ.
