I read something similiar: Fiction has to make sense. Reality do

I guess both of them are implying ppl are picky about fictions and/or films thinking they have to have a theme, or make some sense.

But the funny thing is, fictions and films are supposed to be a reflection of reality, and reality has no theme, and sometimes doesn't make any sense.
