The College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, Michigan has one of toppest industrial design (auto, product, etc.) department in the nation, a very competitive prograpm.Their graphic communication department (illustration,art direct, graphic design) is very strong too. Small school, but great repetitions.

Also take look at the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA and Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah Georgia.
