I want to paint a sky.

What colors should I mix?

Which brush for the distant

storm? What colors

spell sound if I want to

add a dream blowing

in a loud wind?

Which direction

should the dreamer face?

What landscape reflected

in the dreamer's dark pupils?

A man? Or a plainly dressed

maid with one hand reaching

toward her own womanhood?

Should the dreamer smile

or hide that ambiguous face

in a blur of chaos?

Which way is home?

How deep is the shade of

melancholy in those trees

lining on both sides of

sadness?        What

colors for good-

byes?

Then, the problem of light

against memory's shadow

and the length of a child-

hood arching over the saturated

wash of unknown longing. . . .

and then, the 10,000 details of love

one has arranged accordingly

between the sky and the dry

brushed forgiving

. . . .
