Dear Asian American Parents and Friends:
On October 14th, 2018, Asian American Coalition for Education (AACE), in collaboration with a number of other Asian-American organizations, will organize the “Rally for the American Dream” in Boston. This mass convention is aimed at supporting SFFA’s (Students for Fair Admissions) Harvard lawsuit and protesting Harvard’s blatant discrimination against Asian American children in admissions. Representing a critical battle in Asian Americans’ pursuit of equal education rights, this event will demonstrate to the general public our solidarity and drive in demanding equal protection of the laws for our children and future generations as well as in defending the spirit of the American Dream.
Hereby, AACE calls upon Asian American communities for a group of student speakers who are willing to share personal experience and stories in your arduous quest for good education at the upcoming rally. These student speakers will also be expected to voice your opinions regarding the Harvard’s discrimination against Asian American students and in general, the perceived role of race in college admissions.
We need approximately ten student speakers and each will speak for a maximum of five minutes. AACE welcomes students at all educational levels who are confident in public speaking to apply. We will consider not only secondary school, college, and graduate students, but also middle and primary school pupils. It is estimated that thousands of people will join in the rally and a plethora of media platforms will cover the event. Once chosen, student speakers will not be required to give additional personal details besides your first names or to talk to any journalist.
If you are interested in partaking in our rally for equal education rights as a student speaker, please submit a speech essay of 500-1,000 words before September 30th to oneamericanfamilypac@gmail.com. An action committee comprised of leaders from AACE and other sponsor organizations will carefully review your essay and provide necessary training on public speaking.
We Asian Americans, as the most dynamic minority group in the United States, have high stakes in this battle for equal education rights. Therefore, AACE also urges Asian American parents to encourage your children to apply as student speakers. AACE will pay for all student speakers’ travel and accommodation.
Thank you for your support!
