纪念天安门六四事件28周年之际，美国敦促中国尊重人权。美国国务卿蒂勒森要求中国当局就1989年六四在天安门广场以及其他周边地区对和平示威的镇压提出完整说明，并释放因支持纪念六四而被逮捕的人。

 

据法新社星期天自华盛顿消息说，美国总统川普政府呼吁中国尊重人权，并释放因为试图让外界牢记天安门支持民主运动而遭监禁人士。

 

天安门事件28周年之际，美国国务卿蒂勒森发表声明，回忆当年对天安门广场上及周边地区和平抗议的暴力镇压事件。

 

蒂勒森指出：「我们再度呼吁中国对于因1989年6月4日发生的遇害、拘留或失踪者提出完整说明。」

 

蒂勒森还指出，「我们敦促中国停止骚扰寻求赔偿的家属，并将因奋力使外界牢记天安门事件而遭监禁人士，从监狱释放。美国视保护人权为各国基本职责。我们敦促中国政府尊重所有公民的普世权利和基本自由。」

US raises human rights with China on Tiananmen Square anniversary

 

The State Department raised the issue of human rights with China on Sunday, the 28th anniversary of the protests in Tiananmen Square.

 

“We call again on China to make a full accounting of those killed, detained, or missing due to the events of June 4, 1989,” Secretary of State said in a statment.

 

“We urge China to cease harassment of family members seeking redress and to release from prison those who have been jailed for striving to keep the memory of Tiananmen Square alive.”

 

Tillerson drew a distinction between a nation’s policies and values.

 

"I think it’s really important that all of us understand the difference between policy and values, and in some circumstances, we should and do condition our policy engagements on people adopting certain actions as to how they treat people," Tillerson said at the time. "We should demand that. But that doesn’t mean that’s the case in every situation."
