I will introduce you to 8 different forms of poetry. You are to write your own poem for 4 of the 8 selections.

1. Portmanteau: ("Jabberwocky" - C.S. Lewis) Please write about a childhood experience that was full of imaginative possibilities. This kind of childhood reflection causes language to fail your description. You must include 10 portmanteaus to help us bridge the imaginative gap.
2.  Haiku: ("The old pond" - Basho) This is the Zen mastery of painting with words. Your job is to write four haikus that match the seasons. Remember, you need to capture the essence of the season. The images should combine to invoke atmosphere or feeling. Simple form (5,7,5) ... complex application.
