whether the shot was fired accidentally.  If accidental firing was established as undisputed fact, as you thought, there would be no trial.

Instead, the trial result was that all 12 jurors were convinced by the prosecution that Liang fired the shot recklessly, and the defense could not convince even a single juror otherwise.
