Bill Cosby was charged Wednesday with sexual assault in which he allegedly drugged a young woman in 2004 and then sexually assaulted her at his home in suburban Philadelphia.
Montgomery County prosecutors have charged Cosby with one count of aggravated indecent assault, which is a criminal charge.
The actor will be arraigned later this afternoon, said Kevin Steele, first assistant district attorney in Montgomery.
The charges are the result of “new information” that came to light in July, Steele said.
The statute of limitation has not expired, he said.
Steele said the evidence will show that Cosby became a mentor to a young woman after meeting her at Temple University. He said Cosby gave her pills that made her unable to move and he assaulted her.
