This is a big mistake. japan stole those islands during their "imperial" days,and the Chinese and Both Koreas aren't having it. I'm amazed at how both Democrats and Republicans embrace the people that have attacked us or financed attacks on us (Japan,Saudi Arabia,Kuwait) but have made enemies out of the people we invaded or attacked (China, Iran,Cuba) and never attacked us. If Obama is siding with the Imperalists,then he's asking for more distrust from the Koreans,the Chinese,and The Filipinos. Those people don't trust the Japanese,and they have good reason not to.

Japan has the right and administer them according to treaty. and according to international law, it's fall under japan jurisdiction. Check the san francisco treaty before u simply laid claim based on war.
But about who owning them, its can be claimed back and that's why it need dialogue. Not parking the military and spread the zone like china..they involve setting their sea and redefine their border and involve in spat with philliphine, myanmar and vietnam. Just ask vietnam and filipino,
Btw im chinese dude. Im never hate Japan. And look at Present as it is what define us..Not history hatred

Felix Jonathan Lim Who created the law and wrote the treaty? The people in power at the time. Native Americans signed a treaty saying that The United States wouldn't expand West of the Mississippi River. We all know what happened.Since when do people sitting in San Francisco have the right to determine what's right in Asia?. It's a new world. The Imperalist way of doing things is just about over.The problem with Japan is that we didn't nuke enough cities.

Felix Jonathan Lim P.S. You're Chinese and you're not upset about the Japanese officials still visiting the Yasukuni war criminal shrine,or their blatant refusal to apologize for kidnapping Chinese,Korean and Australian women to be sex slaves for their Imperial army? You don't take much pride in your country do you?

Now is not a good time to get involved with this. Provoking China while at the same time getting involved with Russia can only spell disaster. This has the earmarks of a world war in the making. We need to be careful how we conduct world affairs if we want to avoid WW3.

The Republicans tax and spend and put us in harm’s way, the same as the Democrats. Two sides but same coin.

So not only does Barry want to fight Russia but now China also? He wants ww3 so he can stay in power after his term but there might not be anything left to have power over. Barry is destroying America and anyone that can't see it is either blind, stupid or against us also.

It only proves that the U.S. presidency is largely a ceremonial position, much like the Queen of England. The Military-Industrial Complex calls the shots in military matters and foreign policy.

Wow, with all the new clout America has in the world under Obama, China will be quaking in their boots. I hope they don't call our notes. Hey Obama, how about this? Mind your own business. Nobody in the world cares what you think.

"Obama to back Japan in China islands dispute" No doubt just like he 'backed' Ukraine and cost them the Crimea and God only knows how much more yet to come! Talk is cheap and that's all he's good at.

So it was Obama's fault that Ukraine lost the Crimea? Huh. And here I thought Russia had something to do with it . . .

The people of Crimea wanted to return to Russia for financial reasons. If you're going to bag on the president at least know what you are talking about!

~~~~~~~~~~~
I know a few WWII veterans who fought the Japanese in the Pacific over some disputed islands who don't like this stand the U.S. is taking.
It is illogical for the United States to seek conflict with China.
1. The war on terrorism remains unfinished. Al Qaeda and its affiliates in many countries are still conducting numerous terrorist attacks.
2. Russia is still expanding. Russia has annexed part of Georgia and the entirety of the Crimea. Ukraine is next on the menu.
3. China's South China Sea nine-dash-line map originated in February 1948. This is not a new claim. China's South China Sea map is 11 years older than Hawaii has been a U.S. state (August 1959).
The United States has its hands full with Al Qaeda, Russia, Syria, Iran, and North Korea. I don't think there's any room for China.
It is illogical for the United States to seek conflict with China or Russia. The U.S. is stepping into the geopolitical spheres of these two Superpowers. Imagine if they encroached on our Monroe Doctrine. We would be up in arms as well.
The US never misses an opportunity to intervene where it need not be involved, creating antagonism along the way. The result? Conflict, death, debt, and eventually collapse.
