H1b，10月1日生效。为了能在8月到10月之间还能继续工作，我需要申请OPT。在联系学校小蜜后得知，必须在OPT之后申请H1b，因为她说the last status you apply is the one you are going to hold。然后公司律师说，OPT不是status。她认为可以申请只是OPT的日期会从今年8月到10月，H1b一生效，OPT就expire了。
-The lawyer is absolutely right, The H1 validity is on Oct. 1 and you need to file OPT to extend your F1 to September 30 and work before the H1 is effective. You can file OPT before or after your employer file H1 petition (these two does not affect eahc other in your case).
