“Mr Bowen said that eight out of the ten Chinese asylum seekers had passports, adding that the group would initially be detained at a centre in Darwin while it underwent initial health and security checks.

He said that last year, more than 1000 Chinese nationals claimed asylum in Australia for a variety of reasons, including persecution as Falun Gong practitioners."
