Ecosystems have been greatly affected by development of economy, that results in associated dust storms often seen in the spring time in Beijing, and other northern parts of China. I have done a little research on the composition of dusts in Beijing, mostly comprising very fine-grained quartz, feldspar, and clays. Basically, these materials come from wind blown regolith on Earth surface, not from industrial pollutants. The other way to prevent this happening is to recover the vegetation of the northwestern portions of China. The one problem of doing this is lack of water in the region.I do not have a better solution to solving the problem of dust storms, although it is possible to easien this via introduction of more water to the region, which may require heavy investment.
Dust storm may cause health problems of human beings, but is not as serious as the industrial polutants and radioactive materials from the broken nuclear plants like the Japanese ones.
