I respect your opinion. But if it finally comes down to either Mao or Zhou. Mao WOULD prevail. A case in point, when Mao severely criticized Zhou in the end of 1973, people (senior cadres) avoided Zhou like a plague. No one came to Zhou's aid. Most (old cadres and Gang of Four alike)thought Zhou would be gone. Mao didn't let it happen.
