Say what one wants to say about Lin. See if any one can answer the following:

1.      Why Lin and his followers turned the Second Plenary Session of the 9th Party Central Committee upside down by delivering the (in)famous “Genius” speech by Lin (with or without Mao’s consent)? There were three items on the agenda – national economy, war preparation, and amendment of Constitution. It should be an easy Session and yet it turned out to be 10th class struggle. I don’t think Mao had the incentive or idea to remove Lin before the Session convened.

2.      Why Lin’s Gang of Four didn’t distribute their introspections (Jian Tao)  to the second level of Army General Staff as directed by Mao? Lin must have directed Huang not to do it.
