I feel it's not safe to drive in PR. We usually just take taxi there. And we never brought our kids there (I don't feel PR is good for small kids). We like St. Maarteen. It's safe to rent car and drive around. We went there when kids were 4 months & 3 years old for 1 week, quite fun.
