A China national who created a ruckus at Changi Airport in July over a delayed flight and assaulted a police officer, has been jailed four months and fined S$1,000.

28-year-old Fang Xiang, a student, was at Changi Airport Terminal 1 on July 5, waiting to catch a flight at about 9.40am.

He had flown to Singapore from Shanghai and was waiting to catch a connecting flight to Zurich, Switzerland, where he lives and studies.

Certis Cisco Aviation Security Officer Lai Wei Chuen heard Fang shouting at the departure transit area.

The officer checked his boarding pass and told Fang he was supposed to be at Terminal 3 and not Terminal 1.

Fang later dashed into a Gate Hold Room and airport police were called in after a silent alarm was activated.

Fang was taken to Changi General Hospital for a medical examination and placed in a wheelchair.

He then kicked Airport Police Division officer, Sergeant Ryan Yam, who was adjusting Fang's legs in the wheelchair.

He pleaded guilty earlier this month to two charges of voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant and disorderly behaviour.

Four other charges of criminal trespass, using criminal force, voluntarily causing hurt, and using criminal force on a public servant were taken into consideration.
