WEST-BOUND train services between Outram Park and Jurong East MRT stations were disrupted for an hour last night after a man was hit by a train at Queenstown station. About 13,700 passengers were affected by the delay and buses were deployed by SMRT to ferry the affected commuters. The Chinese man, in his early 40s, suffered extensive head injuries after he was hit by a train at about 8.15pm, SMRT said in a statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The Singapore Civil Defence Force, which was dispatched to the scene after police received a call, found the body of the man lying parallel to the tracks, below the last cabin of the west-bound train heading towards Joo Koon. The body was removed from the tracks at about 8.40pm. Police have classified the case as unnatural death and are investigating.
