AFAIK the annihilation of a matter particle and an antimatter particle does NOT produce anything that can start another matter-antimatter reaction. chain reactions in nuclear fission occur because excess free neutrons are release when an atom of element A splits into two smaller atoms of other elements; these neutrons, in turn, strike other atoms of element A, cause those atoms to split and release even more neutrons.
