Check whether there is any early intervention program in your area and get your baby evaluated. Don't worry too much. Developmental process is different for every baby. Maybe your baby is just not ready yet. My baby is 21 months now and cannot speak--she does pronounce certain sounds but barely barely speak meaningfully. I remember when she was 1 year old, she 1)was not sensitive to her name 2) definitely didn't know how to point 3) did not know how to stack blocks. And she was very quiet. But she understands what we said and follows instructions (sometimes, of course). I got her evaluated and found that her cognitive, interactive, social skills are all age appropriate, only expressive language skill is delayed. Hopefull we will get her to start talking soon. Again, every baby is different. Also, I heard babies have phases---they like mommy for a certain period of time, and then switch to like daddy, or vice versa.
