I worked for consulting company A  from March to Nov this year. Company A filed H1B transfer from company C to A,

it has been in "initial review"  since March.

-It seems very unusual for the h1 pending for such a long time.

Company B transfered my H1B by premium processing and approved by Nov. Now I am working for company B, however company B don't have project after this month.   

At mean time Company A H1B transfer is in "RFE" status and A may have work in Jan.

What is the best way to handle this visa headache ?  

-You only can wait for the Company A H1 approval and then, work for them or find another new job and do H1 transfer from Company B to the new compnay. You can not go back to work for the Company A before the Company A H1 is approved if your previous H1 I-94 from Company C has expired for > 240 days.
