我的J-1很快到期，学校正在办换H1B的申请，现在刚刚递交prevailing wage,没有可能在到期之前递交材料去移民局了，我必须回到中国等待H1B approval以后再签证回来，那样可能等很久。我没有向移民局递交H4的申请，因为H4 approval也要等5-6个月，

今天朋友说，即使我没有向移民局申请H4，也可以直接去驻中国的美国领馆签H4很快回来。这样可以么？我觉得不行的，美国领馆签发的只是入境签证，和H4 status是不一样的，

-Your friend is right. When you enter US with the H4 visa, your will get the H4 status (H4 I-94) at the port of entry as you got the J1 status with the J1 visa before.

没有移民局的H4 approval，我怎么去领馆签证呢？

-You just need to bring your spouse H1 approval notice and his/her recent 3 months paycheck stubs, your marriage certificate to the US Embasssy/Consulate to apply for the H4 visa, not need the H4 approval notice.
