Reentry permit is different from advance parole. Reentry permit (RP) is for green card holder who want to stay outside US for more than 1 year and less than two years. Advanced parole (AP) is for a person who has pending I-485 and wants to travel internationally. Your parents I-485 were approved, so they can not apply for the AP, but RP if they want to stay in China for > 1 year < 2 years. If they will return to US within one year, they do not need to apply for RP.
